Annie Parnell worked for the better part of a decade with some of the most successful writers and producers in television. It was during that time that she often thought about how she could help bring her great-grandmother’s books to a wider audience. Ben Hatke is the author of the New York Times–bestselling Zita the Spacegirl trilogy as well as the picture books Julia’s House for Lost Creatures and Little Robot. In addition to writing and drawing comics, he paints in the naturalist tradition and, occasionally, performs one-man fire shows.
