This chapter's objective is to introduce you to the world of GPU manufacturers and the leaders in the same field—AMD and NVIDIA. We will start with a history of various GPU makers from their inception, up to today. In the subsequent sections, we'll explore the scenario on computing on NVIDIA and AMD separately. After that, we will compare both of them before discussing the most recent GPU models from each of the brands.
The entry-level guide will be about a DIY walkthrough based on a basic approach targeted toward individuals who are looking into learning GPU computing for the first time. Four different CPU-GPU combinations that were highlighted in the previous chapter will be detailed on a step-by-step basis so that you can build them easily.
The mid-range guide will be focused on intermediate users who are already familiar with GPU computing and who are looking to gain more knowledge in the field. The four different CPU-GPU combinations that were highlighted in the previous chapter for intermediate users will be explored with an intermediate approach.
The high-end guide will focus on advanced users who use GPU computing for industrial and scientific applications, and it will explore different ways to maximize performance at optimum temperatures.
Different cooling options will be looked into while building such high-end configurations. The four different CPU-GPU combinations that were highlighted in the previous chapter for advanced users will be explored in detail with that approach.
The list of each of the entry-level, mid-range, and high-end components will be recompiled, and more of these configurations will be explored.
