SXM stands for Sign extension mode. NVLink, as stated by NVIDIA, is a high-bandwidth and energy-efficient interconnect that enables ultra-fast CPU to GPU and GPU to GPU communication.
A new SXM2 mezzanine connector was introduced by NVIDIA for NVLink in order to address the issues of Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe), such as overloads causing performance bottlenecks in high-end GPUs and multi-GPU systems.
Titan V does not support NVLink 2.0, but its CEO edition, a 32 GB version, does support it.
The three GPUs that we compared here are available at extremely high prices: thousands of dollars. On the affordability level, it can be considered feasible for academic institutions and industries, but not for individuals who are small, independent researchers.
