Lazarus flew toward the Orc army. The enemy started to shoot arrows and magical spells at him, but the projectiles didn’t pierce his barrier. Lazarus changed his magical shield slightly. Every time a magical spell hit his barrier, it came back to him as magical energy. In essence, he was growing in power each time an Orc mage shot at him with a spell final battle.
Lazarus felt strong and powerful. The Elven archers shot into the Orc line and Lazarus changed the arrows into blasts into arcane fires. He didn’t have to do anything but wait here. The front line of the Orc army was getting decimated with his flame blasts. The orc army called for a retreat. Lazarus smiled and knew the enemy soldiers couldn't leave this early without a more devastating blow. He concentrated and a large tornado sprung up before him. Focusing on the line of the retreating army, he unleashed a wind spell on them. The tornado destroyed the ranks of enemy soldiers gathering them into its maw. He let the spell break all over the enemy decimating their army.
Lazarus looked at the catapults and siege engines in the distance. He flew toward the weapons. Blasting the first weapon with fireballs, he saw the siege engine engulfed in flames. He destroyed the catapult next to it with a giant oceanic wave crushing everything in its path: orc, goblins and monsters alike. Lazarus looked at the devastation he wrought and he wanted more. His blood broiled.
Lazarus saw the hapless enemy army trying to leave. He soared upwards and shot lightning bolts destroying scores of enemy warriors. An orc mage tried to shoot a spell at him. He turned to him and concentrated. The orc mage tried to raise a magical shield but Lazarus controlled the air around him and smashed him into pieces like a grape being squeezed by a giant. Blood and entrails shot upwards spraying in an arc.
Lazarus smiled and then somersaulted and landed on the ground. The orc warriors thinking he was defenseless on the ground quickly attacked him. Lazarus expected this. He waited. Royce jumped into the orcs and goblins, barreling into them. He snarled, ripped and killed the enemy.
Lazarus nodded and then created two large magical sabers that projected from his hands. Two orcs snarled and rushed at him. He cut the enemy down in two vertical swipes. Blood coated him. He felt strong and powerful and wanted more. Lazarus yelled and ran into the midst of orcs. He cut and parried his magical weapons destroying all the enemies.
A large creature reared up in front of him. It was one of the large mutant elephant creatures he saw from the air. It was trying to crush him with its large tree-trunk feet. Lazarus jumped out of the way hitting several of the orcs. Lazarus shot upwards and flew into the sky. He shot a lighting spell at the creature. The spell hit the skull of the beast, smashing its head into pieces. The beast’s carcass fell to the side crushing several of the orc and goblin warriors.
He looked for Royce. He was ripping and killing enemies several feet away from him. Most of the Orc army was retreating staying away from them. Lazarus wanted to kill more, but he calmed himself. He stopped.
“Lazarus?” It was Cindy telepathically spoke to him.
“Yes, are you ok? Where is Grace?”
“We’re fine. We destroyed the Orcs who were trying to take over the rear of the capital. How are you doing?”
“The Orc army is in retreat. We’re done.”
“Good, we will meet you at the front gate.”
“Ok, I will wait here a while. Royce is having too much fun,” he said.
Lazarus soared upwards and surveyed the battle field. It used to be a beautiful grassland, but now it was a blasted land of dead orcs and twisted goblins all around. There were several dead elves among the orcs. He wondered if the orc tribes would call a truce.
Royce padded next to him. His muzzle and paws were bloody, and he smiled a wicked grin.
Lazarus said, “Are you done?”
“Yes,” Royce growled.
Focusing his magic, he lifted Royce upwards. The orc army retreated to the surrounding forest.

LAZARUS AND THE ALPHA mages stood at the front wall. General David was looking out toward the battlefield. He shook his head.
General David said, “Thank you, Alpha mages. If you didn't help us, we would have been overrun by the Orc army.”
“You’re welcome, General,” Lazarus said.
The elf soldiers stood at attention. Somebody was pushing through the crowd of warriors.
“You’re back!” Professor Jacobs said.
The tall lanky figure of the Professor ran up to him. His dark hair was tousled. This gave him a look of a young boy. Cindy gave him a hug.
“Professor Jacobs,” Lazarus said with a smile on his lips. “I’m glad you made it back in one piece. We were worried about you.”
Professor Jacobs, “You were worried about me? We were worried about you. So, did you find Merlin?”
“Yes, but we will talk about that later. I think the Princess wants to talk to us,” he said.
General David, “Yes, Lazarus, the Princess is waiting for you at the castle. She wants to congratulate you. Please come.”
The elves and dwarves soldiers parted before them. Lazarus and the Alphas followed General David. They walked down the steps of the front gate. Lazarus saw dwarves and elves moving the wounded and the dead. Lazarus didn't like the aftermath of war, but he couldn't deny his blood lust whenever he was in a fight. He had felt this several times since the fight in the city of Austin. He wished he had Merlin’s teachings or counsel so he could understand all this.
