Cindy turned to Grace and Royce. Professor Jacobs and Della were walking up the street with them and they just heard a loud explosion. They all instantly went into defensive positions except for Professor Jacobs who merely looked around.
Royce said, “I smell Vvong creatures. But they are a few blocks from us.”
Cindy felt a tinge of nervousness. She knew it was Merlin and Lazarus that made the large explosion. She wanted to rush down the block and find them.
Grace said, “What do we do?”
“Lazarus will be fine,” Cindy said. She was careful not to mention Merlin’s name.
Royce said, “So, what is our destination?”
Cindy didn't hesitate. She pointed to the battle raging a few miles from here.
Cindy said, “I will create flying creatures for Della and Professor Jacobs.”
She looked over toward the two. “I don’t want you to join the fight. I want you to stay clear.”
Professor Jacobs said, “Sure. We will stay far away.”
Della looked uncertain. “I’m a warrior and I want to fight but I need to watch over the Professor. We will be far away Master Alpha Cindy.”
Cindy nodded and walked into the middle of the abandoned street and held up her hands.
Grace said, “Do you need our powers?”
“No, not this time.”
Cindy focused her magic and two magical water globes appeared before her. The globes started to sprout wings and legs and in a matter of seconds two large white horses with wings snickered at her.
Professor Jacobs said, “Thank you. I’m always amazed when you conjure mystical creatures.”
Cindy said, “Climb on board.”
When the two were sitting on the horses, Cindy and the others nodded and they flew upwards toward the battle. She was surprised Royce could fly without her help. Cindy turned to him and he nodded. This was a new development. She wondered what other new developments Royce had. She could tell from here who was the Vvong and who was the New California forces. The Vvong creatures had insectile looking fighters and the New California forces flew jet stream lined fighters.
The New California forces were clearly losing. The Vvong creatures had too many ships. And on the horizon was a large Vvong battle ship. She led the charge and the Vvong creatures instantly noticed them. She knew it was her magic. They could sense it. Cindy thought about Lazarus and how he was marvelous in battle. She need to channel his fierceness.
The first creature was coming toward her. She about to attack the creature with magical water missiles, but a fireball spell shot from Royce hit the creature’s ship obliterating it. She nodded to him, but another creature flanked them. Cindy shot several magical missiles at it and it hit the fighter. She watched it fall to the ground and explode.
“Watch out!”
A grouping of laser shots peppered them. Grace protected them with a force field. She held up her hand and was straining under the barrage. Cindy sent a large icicle spike at the enemy but they scattered before she could hit them. A Vvong creature suddenly appeared from below and started to shoot missiles. Cindy combined her power with Grace’s keeping the magical force field surrounding them. Cindy realized she should have made a better plan than rushing into battle. She wondered what Lazarus would have done.
A few of the Vvong creatures exploded in a large blast. The New California fighters swoop in and shot at the enemy. Royce threw several fireballs destroying most of the Vvong space craft. The remaining enemy scattered and left them alone. The battle was done.
Cindy said, “That went well.”
A New California fighter hovered across from them. She was not sure if the fighter pilot was going to shoot at them.
“Hello! Follow me!”
The jet fighter turned to the side and headed downwards and away.
Royce said, “Let’s follow them.”
“Yes,” Cindy said.
She turned and saw Professor Jacobs and Della soaring close to them.
Cindy shouted, “Follow us! We are being escorted to their base.”
The jet fighter waited for them to follow. It was hovering several feet away. Cindy nodded, and they flew in the direction of the jet.

CINDY AND THE ALPHA’S landed on an air strip with several military gray buildings. She saw several jet planes sitting on the tarmac on long rows. The jet fighter that led them here soared and hovered to a stop and touched down on the ground. The cockpit opened, and the pilot took off her head. It was a woman with long black hair.
The pilot said, “Who are you? Are you with one of the magical guilds?”
Cindy walked closer to the ship. Several soldiers came out of the buildings brandishing weapons. The pilot slid out of a small hatch from the bottom of the jet plane. She ran up to the soldiers.
She said, “Stopped, these mages helped us. We would have lost the battle without them.”
A tall man with short white hair walked through the crowd of soldiered. He said, “At ease men.”
The soldiers placed their guns lower. He walked up to Cindy and stood there.
“Who are you? We didn't know the magical guilds would bring mages into the battle.” He paused and then said, “Are you with the Illuminati?”
The soldiers raised their guns upwards when Professor Jacobs and Della landed on the ground with the flying horses.
“What is that?” The gray haired man said.
Cindy stepped forward. “My name is Cindy. This is Grace and Royce. On the horses is Professor Jacobs and the elf, Della. We are here to help you.”
“I’m Commander Wellstone. I am the CO of this base, Pendleton. We didn't hear you coming to help us. Thank you.”
Cindy said, “We can help you more.”
Commander Wellstone said, “I need to speak to my superiors. Captain Joelene take the mages to our mess hall. You will also need to brief us afterwards. Is there any other pilots left?”
Captain Joelene said, “No, I’m the only one left. I will brief you Commander Wellstone after I take the mages to the mess hall.”
She saluted him and said, “Cindy, I will take you and your friends to the mess hall to get some food and drinks.”
Professor Jacobs and Della dismounted from the horses. The soldiers gasped as the horses changed into water spheres and disappear.
Captain Joelene said, “Who are you? You’re more powerful than any of the military’s mages we’ve seen. You can even fly. I never seen anybody do that.”
She stopped walking and stared at her.
Royce said, “Captain, it is a long story but you take us to your mess hall. I’m tired and hungry.”
“Yes,” Captain Joelene said. She started walking toward the large military gray building. Cindy saw the other soldiers were following them but stayed a respectable distance from them.
