Lazarus, the Alpha mages, Professor Jacobs and Della were guided to their quarters by a young woman soldier. Captain Marlena was escorted back to her ship. She wanted to be on board her vessel to check on everything. Lazarus didn't know what their battle plans were when the Vvong Queen got to Earth. He assumed the alien creatures would start an all-out assault on all the cities on Earth.
The soldier who led them seemed nervous when she was assigned the task of showing them their rooms. The soldier stammered when she announced she was leading them into the base toward their quarters. They moved toward an elevator. Lazarus noticed there was thirty floors to this base. He marveled at the size of this place.
The soldier pressed the floor for fifteen. The elevator was silent. He didn't even feel it move. The doors opened toward a long bright white hallway. It was silent. They each moved to each room. Lazarus nodded to Cindy. He already knew she would come to his room after an hour. He wanted to go to her room, but she said in his mind, “I will meet you soon. I miss you.”
Lazarus said to the others. He entered his small room with a bed, a table and a chair. He thought this was better than sleeping out in the cold like he had been doing. He lay in his bed and closed his eyes. When he went back into the trials to kill the demon, he missed the old world of technology and cars.
He heard a gentle knock at the door. He didn't have to tell her to come inside. It was Cindy. She smiled as she walked inside. Lazarus stood, and she walked into his arms. They kissed. There was nothing more to say. Falling into the bed, they barely fit on. They made love.
And afterwards, they lay next to each other. She was asleep before he finally closed his eyes. He wished it would stay like this forever. But he knew tomorrow would be the final reckoning, the final battle. And he also knew the Vvong Queen would be contacting him and she would try to seduce him to her side.
Lazarus had to be strong. He was powerful with his magic. Yet, he knew he was not mentally strong. Then he knew Morgana was there in his mind. He felt an enormous weight press down on him. He was powerless to do anything.
“Lazarus, I know you hear me.”
Her voice echoed in his ears. It made him weak and dizzy.
“Yes, Morgana. I hear you. I know what you want.”
“Are you going to give me Excalibur?”
“What use will it be you? You cannot evoke the spell. You still need me,” Lazarus said.
He was taking a gamble. He was not sure if this was the case with the sword. Morgana was still in spirit form and cannot touch and control things.
She suddenly blasted him with magic. He fell in a blackness and pain racked his body.
Morgana said, “You're a fool. I could destroy your mind.”
“No, you will not. I’m the only person who could help you,” he said.
Morgana started to chuckle and said, “I know Merlin is on earth. I can feel him. Don't try to hide it from me.”
Lazarus was instantly on guard. Merlin didn't want Morgana to know he was on earth. But it didn't matter. She could feel his presence.
Lazarus said, “He will not help you. You're not human anymore. You're a creature, a monstrous beast.”
“Your right. I'm not human anymore. Your kind thinks it could rule the galaxy. I have traveled through countless of galaxies. All the life forms thought the same as humans. But in the end I destroyed their world. I waited for this time to destroy earth. You will give me Excalibur and you will perform the spells to make me whole. I don't care about Merlin,” she said.
“If I do this, will you leave Earth alone and leave,” Lazarus said. He had to try, but he knew Morgana would never agree to not attack Earth.
“No,” she said. “I will come to Earth and you will give me Excalibur or I will make all your friends into Vvong creatures.”
Lazarus said, “I’m willing to meet you by yourself and we can talk about this.”
The Vvong Queen was silent. “We will talk later. Don't tell your friends about this conversation.”
He felt her presence disappear from his mind. It was like feeling dirty crawled in mud. He knew the Morgana would contact him. He was already formulating a plan after dinner. Maybe, he thought he could stop any bloodshed before he could destroy her.
He wondered where Merlin was. It would make things easier. The first part of his plan was to lure Morgana at a designated place and he would have the Alpha Mages with him for support and with the help of Merlin make Morgana normal again. And then they would destroy her. Yet, he knew it wouldn't be this easy.
He awoke in an instant. Somebody felt wrong. There was a coldness in the room. He looked over to Cindy. She was asleep next to him snoring softly. Standing, he looked around. It was nothing.
