One-point perspective is the simplest and most basic form of perspective. It may be employed when the viewer is looking at objects within a scene straight on. The technique uses only one vanishing point, with all receding horizontal lines converging at one place in the distance. All non-receding horizontal lines are parallel to the picture plane and therefore are truly horizontal. One-point perspective is perhaps best illustrated by looking down a long hallway. It is obvious that ceiling lines, or base lines, all converge towards one common point. By adding dramatic lighting to a drawing with one-point perspective you can create a great impact.
