The Forgotten
- 8,744,000 military personnel participated in the war involving the United States, North Vietnam, and South Vietnam;
- 58,177 American soldiers were killed, and 153,303 wounded;
- 1.5 million military personnel and 2 million civilians died in North Vietnam;
- 255,000 military personnel and 430,000 civilians were killed in South Vietnam.
I wonder why there are only round figures on one side and exact ones on the other, and above all, why no list included the number
- of orphans;
- of widows;
- of aborted dreams;
- of broken hearts.
I also wonder if all those figures would have been different had love been considered in the calculations, the strategies, the equations, and above all the battles.
