How fit is your church? By now, you have some idea of the fitness level of your church. However, knowing more specifics can help you clearly understand your situation, set realistic goals, and measure progress.
Ready to start a fitness program? Increasing church fitness requires three steps. First, determine how fit your church is currently. Second, set goals to improve. Third, track your progress. Get started measuring your church’s current fitness level by using the progress chart below. Doing so will give you a more specific idea of your church’s body mass index (BMI). Completing the chart yourself is a good beginning, but combining the perspectives of several people in your church to complete the chart will increase the overall validity of the findings.
Let’s get started. Complete the progress chart by following the instructions below.
Read through each of the key indicators along the left side of the progress chart and put a check mark in one box to the left that is the closest to your church’s current reality.
Add the total for the five columns together to determine your church’s current BMI.
What is your church’s BMI? The following scale is a useful guide.
Church’s BMI | Fitness Level |
50–100 | Excellent |
101–150 | Good |
151–200 | Fair |
201–250 | Poor |
