“SO WHAT DO YOU THINK it all means?" Katie asked Dana as they sat by the cozy fireplace in the living room.
Truffles was lying by the fireplace getting all snug.
"I'm not really sure. But nothing seems to be adding up right now." Dana felt frustrated. She never felt this way before. This was a very puzzling case.
"So you have the word Switzerland and the words bright blue?" Katie said as she took a sip of her hot chocolate with whip cream. She then placed the cup on the coffee table and covered up with the quilt. It was getting chilly at this time of the year now in late November.
"Yes that's true. Switzerland and bright blue." Dana went over the words from the note in her mind. She then opened up her MacBook after taking a long sip of her delicious hot chocolate with whip cream. The whip cream was piled up high. Grandma Rae always used to make it for the girls when they were younger. It was so warming and soothing. It was the perfect treat just before bedtime.
Right now Dana could use a bit of soothing. The cinnamon tasted so delicious as it melted on her tongue. She had a few sticks of chocolate in there as well. Just the way Grandma Rae made it.
"So we have Switzerland and bright blue. But why on earth would she write those words on a sheet of paper? Then again, did she write them at separate times? Was she planning to go back to Switzerland? Was she planning to run off with Mr. Terrence?" Dana had so many questions spinning in her mind.
Just then Truffles got up and hurried beside her getting all snuggly on the couch purring as she rubbed her head against Dana's arm.
"Okay sweetie I know you want to play right now, but mommy has to do some work."
That didn't seem to faze Truffles at all. She loved to snuggle up with Dana whenever she was at work at the computer.
Dana Googled the words “Switzerland” and “Bright Blue” again. And as before, a few websites came up. And images were mostly to do with the bright blue sky and the wonderful scenery in Switzerland. It also had to do with the bright blue waters and lakes. But there was nothing that would provide a clue. Why on earth did Lichelle write bright blue with Switzerland? It just made no sense.
Just then Dana sighed deeply.
"I think I'm going to call it a night. Something is bothering me but I think if I sleep on it, the answer will come to me."
"Me too," Katie agreed and finished the rest of the hot chocolate from her mug. Just then as Dana closed her MacBook, Truffles scratched her.
"Ouch," Dana cried out. "Truffles why did you do that, sweetie?"
Truffles hissed a bit. She then placed her paw on the keyboard and the screen changed. The Google search results started to roll further down the page.
Just then Dana's eyes opened wide. Her pulse leaped in her throat.
"What is it, Dana? You look as if you’ve seen a ghost!" Katie said to her cousin, noticing the shocked expression on her face.
"I think I have seen a ghost. Oh my God!"
Katie got up and went to glance at what Dana was looking at on the MacBook.
Both their jaws fell open.
“No way,” Katie said.
Dana hit the print button to print off the page.
"Thank you so much, Truffles. What would I do without you?" Dana said in a daze. When she saw what was on the computer screen in front of her, Dana put two and two together and made the connection in her mind. The pieces of the puzzle were finally coming together.
Her heart pounded hard in her chest.
"I think we might just have the killer," Dana said.
