Rice Crispy Bars

 

Makes 12 Servings

 

This treat is a favorite among the kids but can be so cumbersome to make. Cut your time, and the mess back considerably, by using your crock pot as a tool. You'll be able to stop dreading the steps involved when they become simple to make.

 

INGREDIENTS:

 

3 TBSP butter, melted

4 cups miniature marshmallows or 40 regular sized

6 cups rice crispy cereal

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

 

Place the butter in the bottom of the crock pot.

 

Add the marshmallows then top with the cereal.

 

Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Remove the lid and stir with a wooden spoon. If the marshmallows have not completely melted into a gooey mix, continue cooking for another ½ hour. Remove lid and allow to cool for 15 minutes.

 

Spray a 9x11 cookie sheet with canola oil. Pour the mixture onto the sheet and spread evenly. Use waxed paper to flatten the cereal to prevent the marshmallow cream from sticking to your hands. Allow to harden for 1 hour, cut into bars, and serve.
