MORNING MINT TEA

MAKES 1 SERVING (ABOUT 1 CUP; 5 MG THC PER SERVING)

DRINKING MINT TEA in the morning is a Jamaican tradition. It’s said to stimulate the digestive system to help get the day started off right. We used to grow mint in our garden in Jamaica; I remember my parents picking it fresh and drinking it simply steeped in hot water, adding just a little honey to make our mornings (or evenings) sweet. You can also add ginger, a sprig of rosemary, or a squeeze of lemon if you like. If you have fresh herb leaves, you can add them too; the effect will be mellow since you’re not steeping the leaves in the tea for hours and hours. Since the fresh leaves may be harder to come by, here I have added ½ teaspoon coconut CannaOil to the hot infusion for a more medicated mint tea. This is so nice and refreshing, and is also extra good over ice for a mellow summer afternoon.

½ cup packed fresh mint leaves

Boiling water

½ teaspoon CannaOil (optional), made with coconut oil

Squeeze of honey

Fill a mug with the mint leaves and pour boiling water over them. Add the CannaOil (if using; ½ teaspoon per serving) and honey, stir, and set aside for 4 minutes to steep. Leave the mint in while you drink the tea.
