51. I postponed my mammogram, again. I forgot to pay my Xfinity bill, and they turned off my service. My car is so dirty, Keith won’t get in. And my kid gave me yet another Thich Nhat Hanh book, because he thinks I’m too intense.
So as we reach the midpoint in this book of advice, I thought it would be a good time to remind each other:
1. Be honest with yourself. It’s impossible to have meaningful relationships with others if this one’s out of whack.
2. We all have fears, foibles, weaknesses. They are what connect us: All of us are flawed.
3. People who know they are flawed can give you pretty good advice. By being in touch with their weaknesses, they can help you connect with yours.
In other words, if ever you are tempted to think my life is humming, picture me alone in my dirty car, parked on the side of the road, yelling in frustration because the meditation app stopped streaming.
Namaste.
Onward.
