78. When you’re in line for coffee (or tea), what do you normally do? Check your phone? Complain about the line? Consider buying a mug?
Next time you’re in line at the coffee shop, try something new: Give somebody a compliment. Look around you, notice something unique-looking about somebody, and tell them about it. Do it daily. They feel great, you feel great, and it sets the tone for the rest of your day (or at least the rest of your wait in that line).
Bear in mind that compliments don’t work if you only think them. If you see something, say something. I’ve been seated at a restaurant and walked all the way across the room to tell someone that I loved their dress. I realize I risked looking like a nut, but why hold back? Another thing: Don’t be a phony. You have to really mean it, because fakers are the worst.
