Chapter Thirty-three
When Marcus and Gracie pulled up to her apartment, they sat in the car for just a moment while Marcus told how proud he was of her.
“You did it, huh?”
“Yep ... I did it. I still can’t believe it though.”
Marcus walked around his car and opened the door for Gracie. They proceeded inside.
“Honey, I know it’s not going to be an easy task,” Marcus said, “but remember, He never said it would be.”
“I know.” Gracie sighed. “I just can’t believe that I am even considering helping them out. They both cheated on me.”
Gracie leaned into Marcus and allowed him to cradle her in his arms.
“I know it hurts, Gracie,” Marcus whispered, “but if this didn’t happen, I wouldn’t be holding you right now. I know it sounds redundant and an easy answer, but I was made to love you and to help you through the rough times. Just lean on me, okay?”
“I want to, Marcus, I really do, and I am, but I have to let you know that I am afraid. I can’t keep putting my all into people and then they let me down. I thought life got easier as you got older.”
He never said that either. And how about you not put your trust in me, or anyone else? Just put your trust in the Lord. Pray about everything, not something, but everything. He’ll let you know what you need to do. Until you tell me differently, I’ll be here for you.”
“I know you will.”
Eventually, Gracie allowed herself to relax in Marcus’s arms. As she drifted, she really felt in her heart and soul that Marcus was meant for her.
Gracie was glad that she was with Marcus and that he had come into her life when he had. With Marcus, life was different. She could tell he was genuine. Everything came with ease. She had received the answer from above: he was the one. They were equally yoked.
All in all, she planned on moving at a pace that she didn’t design herself. She wanted the full effect of what God had for her and wanted to be cleansed of her past. Reading God’s Word allowed her to know that He had forgiven her for all of her past wrongs and would guide her to be who He wanted her to be. Committing herself to God and living a holy and healthy life was what filled her agenda.
