I just got a DM from *him.*
He apologized and said he felt SO bad about standing me up on my birthday. He was nervous about getting caught b/c his mom and dad were home and I guess they’re super strict. I wonder if I’ll meet his parents. Would they like me? Most parents like me.
He asked me to give him another chance and said he’ll make it up to me.
I said NOPE. Thank U, NEXT.
JK I said how? He really seemed sorry and I’m not a total bitch. I totally get having parents who are always sticking their nose in your business.
He said he got me something for my birthday but didn’t know if I’d accept his apology so he left the present at the park. I can take it or leave it.
A present?!??!
AHHH.
Oh. Cool. Thanks, I said. Like it’s whatever. But I was FREAKING. OUT.
So . . . *drum roll* I snuck out after Mom and Dad went to sleep. I’ve been doing it for years and they haven’t figured it out yet—our little secret—but I’ve never gone to the park alone at night.
I cut through the woods past the tree house. I wanted to see if anyone was out there. I mean, those trees didn’t cut themselves down, right? It has to belong to someone. TBH I was a little worried the light on my phone would blow my cover, but Mom wasn’t following me, and the tree house was empty. Didn’t look like anyone’s been there either.
It was so quiet other than my boots crunching. It was low key scary but also awesome.
When I was just about at the park, I msged him and he said the box was on the bridge.
Part of me thought it had to be a joke or something b/c why would he hide a present on the bridge, ya know? It’s not like we met IRL where he feels like he needs to be nice to me. But I found it on the corner right where he said it would be.
A little blue card on the top said 4 U. I looked around hoping maybe he’d be waiting for me, but I was alone.
So I opened it. A butterfly necklace. I don’t think they’re real diamonds or anything and the chain’s a little short but I don’t care.
It’s perfect.
I’ll never take it off.
