CANNOLI CREAM

Fruit salads are cool and all, but when you start spooning cannoli cream on top, you go from the person who was trying to pass off fruit as dessert to a kitchen rock star. Best of all, it couldn’t be easier to make.

½ cup full-fat ricotta cheese

½ cup heavy cream

1/3 cup powdered sugar

¼ teaspoon ground allspice

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon chocolate chips, chopped

1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest

1. Using an electric mixer, or a whisk if you have strong arms, beat the ricotta until smooth.

2. In a separate bowl, combine the cream, sugar, allspice, and cinnamon. Whisk until you have firm peaks. (You’ll want that electric mixer for this unless you’re The Mountain from Game of Thrones.)

3. Fold in the ricotta mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and orange zest.

4. Throw it in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

5. Put in on anything and it’ll make it better: fruit, cake, between two cookies, on a cupcake, in a cupcake, on toast to make the toast taste like cake.
