you can put one of these sweet felt brooches on anything.

They look great on a jean jacket, a handbag, or even a pillow. I used one to add extra dimension to my Seasonal Wreath (page 60).

ASSEMBLE THE BROOCH

1. Use fabric glue to tack one end of each ribbon to base B.

2. Fold the leaf in half lengthwise. Topstitch ⅛” from the center fold, backstitching at each end. Trim the threads.

3. Use fabric glue to tack the bottom of the leaf to base B, covering the ribbon ends.

4. Sew a basting stitch a scant ¼” from the long straight edge of each flower strip.

5. Gather each strip by pulling a thread to ruffle it. Tie off the gathering threads and trim.

STITCH THE FLOWERS

1. To create each felt flower, roll the ruffled felt from one end, slipstitching the layers together along the bottom edge as you roll. Do not trim the thread ends.

2. Using the same thread, sew the flower to base B. Bring the needle up from the bottom and sew all the way around the base of the flower to hold it in place.

3. To make the fabric flower, press one short end of the fabric strip under ¼”. Fold the strip in half lengthwise and press again.

4. Follow the felt flower instructions to gather the long edges together, roll the flower, and attach it to the base. Begin the roll with the unfinished edge.

5. Once all of the flowers are secure, stitch the bar pin to backing C. Glue the backing to the back of the base.
