Robert C. Reinehr (Ph.D., Texas, 1965) is emeritus professor of psychology, Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas, where he taught from 1981 until his retirement in 1999. Previously, he taught at Austin Community College and at the University of Texas at Austin, Extension Division. He has also served as chief psychologist, Austin State Hospital, and as director of program analysis, Texas Department of Mental Health-Mental Retardation, Austin, Texas.
Jon D. Swartz (Ph.D., Texas, 1969) was chief of psychological services, Central Counties Center for Mental Health-Mental Retardation, Temple, Texas, from 1990 until his retirement in 1999. From 1978 to 1990, he was affiliated with Southwestern University, where he was associate dean and Brown Professor of Education and Psychology. He has also taught at two of the campuses of the University of Texas (Austin, Odessa), the National University of Mexico, and the University of Central Texas.
Reinehr and Swartz have worked together in several capacities since the early 1960s, collaborating on several books and monographs, the last of which was Holtzman Inkblot Technique: Research Guide and Bibliography (The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health, 1999). Their combined publications and papers total in the hundreds. They grew up listening to old-time radio (OTR) and have been fans and collectors of OTR programs, premiums, and other radio-related memorabilia for many years. They authored the chapter, “Radio Program Recordings,” in the Encyclopedia of Recorded Sound in the United States (1993) and the reference work, Handbook of Old-Time Radio: A Comprehensive Guide to Golden Age Radio Listening and Collecting (Scarecrow Press, 1993).
