Why do so many tequila cocktails involve citrus fruit? Well, because tequila mixes shockingly well with all manner of tropical goodies. In the case of the Toronha, it’s grapefruit juice stepping up to the plate and knocking it out of the park. For the Mason jar version, let’s temper the sharpness of the grapefruit juice by adding just a dash of orange juice to complement the orange liqueur. With its smoothie-like consistency, the Toronha is perfect for relaxing with in the hammock. No need to worry much about spillage here!
Makes 1 serving.
2 oz silver tequila
1/2 oz orange liqueur
2 oz grapefruit juice
1 dash orange juice
1 dash grenadine
1 cup ice
Fruit of choice (garnish)
1. As you might expect from any recipe involving a substantial amount of ice, add the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
2. Pour the resulting smoothie into your Mason jar and garnish with the fruit of your choice. Anything from lemon slices to watermelon slices are acceptable, so go crazy!
