MEXICAN MULE

A favorite variant of the Moscow Mule, the Mexican Mule takes the same basic concept and substitutes the chief liquor of Mexico: tequila. Interestingly, tequila and ginger beer go together extremely well—arguably better than the original vodka and ginger beer. If you’re a fan of the spicy harshness of ginger beer and you love drinking tequila, this is definitely a drink you’re going to want to try. As with its vodka-based sister drink, try including a mint sprig as a garnish to add a bit of extra color and brightness.

Makes 1 serving.

1/2 lime (juiced)

1 part tequila

3 parts ginger beer

1 mint sprig (garnish)

1 lime wedge (garnish)

1. Juice one half of a lime into your Mason jar. Add your desired amount of ice.

2. Pour in the tequila and top off with ginger beer. Garnish with a wedge of lime and a mint sprig and enjoy.

VARIATION

Moscow Mule: The Mexican Mule is itself a variation of the original Moscow Mule (page 33), which is made with vodka rather than tequila.
