A gin-based punch is a bit of an oddity, but its unusual nature is part of its appeal. Spiking fruit juice with vodka is old hat, but mixing a little gin with some fruit and lemonade is a great way to keep things fresh and new. With just a couple of blackberries and a little bit of mint, you’ve transformed a simple gin and lemonade drink into something that will really impress.
Makes 1 serving.
6 blackberries
4 mint leaves
1 dash simple syrup (page 162)
2 oz gin
3 oz lemonade
1 dash grenadine
1 blackberry (garnish)
1. Muddle the blackberries and mint in simple syrup at the bottom of a cocktail shaker, then add ice, gin, lemonade, and grenadine. Shake vigorously.
2. Strain the resulting mixture into your Mason jar after adding your desired amount of ice. Add a blackberry or two for garnish and enjoy!
