IRISH COFFEE

Don’t burn yourself on this one! Irish Coffee is a classic morning cocktail that will get you up and moving quick. Although the drink is little more than spiked coffee, it has taken on a life of its own in the mixology world. Brown sugar, whipped cream, nutmeg, and who knows how many other flavor variations have been thrown into the mix. But why complicate things? This classic Irish Coffee recipe will get you ready to face the day in style.


Makes 1 serving.


3 parts coffee

1 dash sugar

1 part Irish whiskey

1 part Irish cream

1 dollop whipped cream (garnish, optional)

1. Pour the coffee into your Mason jar and add sugar. Stir until the sugar has dissolved completely.

2. Continue stirring and add whiskey.

3. Top with Irish cream. Layer the cream on top, if you can. Do not stir.

4. If desired, garnish with a dollop of whipped cream on top. Enjoy!

VARIATIONS

+ The original Irish Coffee recipe from the early 1900s called for brown sugar rather than regular sugar. Go ahead and try it!

+ Use heavy cream instead of Irish cream if you want less booze.
