"Visualization" refers to a mental process used in Face Yoga (and other forms of movement) in which the person practicing uses his/her mind to envision completing the exercise before actually doing so, with the goal of executing the movement more effectively.
I highly recommend that you use visualization in your Face Yoga practice.
Why visualize?
1. Accuracy - you're likely to perform the exercise with proper form, which is critical for seeing results, if you think ahead to what's coming.
2. Intensity - you'll achieve deeper muscle contractions, translating to faster progress, if you mentally identify where your target is first.
3. Focus - when you think intently about the exercises, you're more likely to get "in the zone," relax, and enjoy your practice.
Since visualization greatly improves your Face Yoga practice in multiple ways, here are my tips for how to visualize like a pro:
How do I practice "visualization"?
1. Sit comfortably so that your spine is straight and your breathing is unobstructed.
2. Close your eyes and take three deep breaths, breathing in and out through your nose. Your inhalations should be slow and deep. With your exhalations, empty your belly of air completely.
3. Create a mental picture of the area of your face that you plan to exercise while keeping your eyes closed the whole time.
4. Think about how that area feels currently and how it might feel to move those muscles.
5. Open your eyes and begin your exercises continuing to focus on that special area.
6. Continue to hold your attention on that area of your face throughout your exercise set. This will create a mind-muscle connection and greatly enhance your practice.
