PADDLING

One of the things the Northwest is known for is water. The western side of the Cascades undoubtedly gets its fair share of precipitation. Sure, it makes for some gray days, but all that water does more than make the grass green. With an almost countless number of lakes, swimming holes, sloughs, creeks, and rivers, the greater Portland area is heaven for those who like to have a paddle or an oar in their hands. And that should include you. If you are an outdoor enthusiast and you’re not taking advantage of the water here, you’re doing it wrong. But I digress. Ask one hundred different people for a rundown of the best paddles in the area and you’ll get one hundred different lists. And while these are my favorites, they’re just the tip of the iceberg.
