Acknowledgements

Thank you to Maggie Helwig of The Canadian Forum, Barry Callaghan of Exile, Gregory Wolfe of Image (Spokane, WA.), and Chuck Congram of The Presbyterian Record, for helping my poems to reach readers.

To Brick Books, who kept my previous books available after Lancelot Press closed, my ongoing thanks too.

Since I discarded a computer, hand-written manuscripts kept accumulating. Joan Eichner, who had long been a responsive reader, encouraged me to gather them, and let her put them on computer.

From No Time on, Joan would scrutinize what I began to see as first or second drafts. Her questions, her spotting of unintended ambiguities, her fine ear for syntax, helped clear away superfluous difficulties; and she never intruded when I declared a text must stand. Such invaluable help I want to acknowledge here.

Stan Dragland’s meticulous and responsive editing, in preparing the final text, deserves special mention, as does Maureen Harris’s careful technical work in preparing the manuscript for printing.
