An Offering for Hind

image

AB Bedran (They/She)

You wake up

With the sun on your face

And you jump out of bed,

Running into the kitchen

The smell of coffee

And flowers,

Your mother’s warm embrace

Your father’s glowing smile

You get to play outside!

Amongst the dogs and sheep

Grazing throughout the winding path,

The hills are singing to you

You find yourself in the valley

Where a little stream meets you

You splash and play with your feet

You find rocks, turquoise and red

You run home when it gets dark

And your mother calls you for dinner

You hear stories from your father

About how the world use to be

You fall asleep in the loving arms

Of your family, they tuck you in together

This is what every day is like for you,

This is what it should be for every child.
