White Bean and Garlic Spread

1 can (15 ounces) white beans (great northern or cannellini), rinsed and drained

2 T. toasted sesame seeds

2 T. chopped onion

2 small cloves garlic, peeled

1 T. lemon juice

2 T. olive or avocado oil

⅛ tsp. hot pepper sauce (i.e. Tabasco sauce)

In a food processor or blender, combine all ingredients and process until smooth. Place the spread in a serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate for several hours until well chilled and flavors have melded.

Serve with fresh vegetables, whole wheat pita bread wedges, crackers, or tortilla chips.

Yields a scant 2 cups.
