image

Herbal tea is not tea. It is a combination of leaves, bark, fruit, and other extracts of a particular herb. The herb is known for its medicinal and healing properties. Herbs are known to soothe insomnia, calm nerves in the case of anxiety disorders, relieve a bloated stomach, and help ease sleep abnormalities.

Herbal tea can be ingested with the aim of getting the full medicinal value or as a stimulant. Herbal tea is a healthy tonic to get enough sleep, which comes quickly, they also aid in aromatherapy while being ingested, and bowel movement to soothe an aching stomach. Medicinal values include relief from a sore throat, bronchitis, and fever. Some herbal teas act against cancers and diseases of the heart. Other herbal teas are detoxifiers in nature and help in body cleansing purposes.

Lemon extracts are usually best served at room temperature. Serving lemon tea at room temperature allows the body to get all the benefits of vitamin C that are found in lemons. It is also claimed that frozen lemons, when grated over water with the rind intact, is helpful in relieving cancer symptoms, an excellent detoxifier and a great cleanser.

Chickweed Tea grows as a weed in many gardens. It can be made into a soothing hot drink when ground into powder, fresh from the garden or dried. Its health benefits are not affected as much as lemon tea. This herb has medicinal properties of soothing colic, coughs, bronchitis and many issues arising from the respiratory system.

Ginger herbal tea is known to soothe the digestive system. It is used to relieve an upset stomach and curb nausea. It is also used to stop headaches arising from common colds. It also reduces the risk of cancer.  Rosehip tea herbal tea is made from the fruits of the rose plant. The fruits are rich in vitamin C. The advantage of this tea over lemon tea is that while heat will make it lose some nutrients, higher amounts for the body are retained in hot water.

Eucalyptus tea is probably the best aroma therapeutic agent in this chapter. It is an herbal tea, but with additional therapy for the nose. It is useful in unblocking stuffy noses, and clearing phlegm that is blocking the respiratory tract. It is also an anti-inflammatory agent in relieving rheumatic, and arthritis that induces swelling. The aroma therapeutic benefits induce calmness and a good night’s sleep, especially during common cold infections and flu.
