This book is dedicated to the brave Canadian women who left their homes and families — some from as far away as British Columbia — to fill munitions at “Scarboro” during the Second World War. Over twenty-one thousand people, predominantly women,1 risked their lives filling munitions so that fellow Canadians living and dying on battlefields across the world had plenty of fighting power to put in their weapons, ultimately “speeding the victory” and bringing them home.
To my children and grandchildren, you are my joy.
And to David, forever and for always.
