1. Describe how a woman who is ‘‘content” in every area of her life acts and thinks. Consider areas such as her relationships, her personal values, her checkbook, her manner of dress, her conversation with others, use of her time, etc.

When Paul wrote to the Philippian church, he had been unjustly imprisoned. And yet he could say he was content. What does this teach us about the relationship between outward circumstances and inner contentment? Write your thoughts below.

But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. 1 Timothy 6:6
3. The Bible warns us about discontentment. What do you learn by studying the following Scriptures?

“Sometimes we look at the woman who got what we wanted and we say, ‘ What does she have that I don’t have?’ This is where jealousy is born” (p. 71).
4. Discontentment exposes us to all kinds of temptations: marital infidelity, greed, envy, depression. Don’t let the devil use discontentment to disparage God’s blessings. Meditate on the following verses that remind you how to find your soul’s satisfaction in God alone. Write your thoughts below.

“You need to understand that the closer you are to the Lord, the harder the devil will attempt to trick you and snare you in his traps” (p. 72).
5. Take some time to reflect on what God’s Word says about contentment. Review Scriptures we’ve studied as well as any others you wish to include here.
“God will steer us away from the plots and plans of that colorful, slithering creature who—after all these years—is still making promises he can’t keep ” (p. 77).

6. In what areas of your life are you most vulnerable to feeling discontent? What advice from Scripture will help you guard against those feelings?
7. Strengthen your resolve against discontent by writing a letter to God thanking Him for all that He has given you. You may want to refer to Hebrews 13:5 for inspiration.
