Here we go again: another book, another incredible ride surrounded by cheerleaders brave enough to fasten their seatbelts for the biggest twists and turns.

First, thank you to my marvellous HarperCollins family: Rachel Dennis, Tim Miller, Amanda Diaz, Matt Stanton, Hazel Lam, Libby Volke, Gemma Fahy, Shona Martyn, Helen Littleton and, of course, my gorgeous publisher, Lisa Berryman, and publishing director, Cristina Cappelluto. Thank you for sending The Intern out into the world with a bang, believing in my writing and giving me the freedom to stay true to my voice, instincts and ideas. As always, it’s a privilege and a joy to work with each and every one of you.

A special mention to my word-wrangling editor extraordinaire, Nicola O’Shea, who — two books on — knows the world of Josie Browning as well as I do.

Thanks to my best friends, writing buddies, author mates and online community for your emails, tweets, comments, likes, shares, calls, shoulders to cry on, hugs and bowls of hot chips (with extra chicken salt). I know we’ll always cheer each other on as we aim for the stars. And to my dear readers, thank you. Without you, none of this would be possible.

To my family: I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be connected to such kind, generous, funny and loving people. Your encouragement throughout this ride has been unwavering. Never forget how grateful I am to have you in my life — I never do.

And to my husband and first reader, Jason: once again, I couldn’t have pulled this off without your love and support. Thank you for your patience, pep talks and editing eagle eye (and for taking over as domestic god when I forgot to clean the apartment for a year … or two). You’re a weapon with a red pen and I adore you for it.

Bring on the next ride, I say – seatbelts compulsory.
