“Hey boo, you look cute today,” Co-Co complimented Keller when she walked into the salon.
“Thanks honey.” Keller smiled at him.
“The fuck you be walking around here with that goofy ass smile on your face all day for?” Jaden asked her.
“Shut up Jaden. Is it a crime for me to be happy?” Keller asked him.
“I wonder why,” Jaden said, giving her the side eye.
He knew that Keller and Tigga hooked up with each other from time to time, but she was still with Leo’s no good grimy ass. Jaden didn’t care for him that much, but he was cordial with him because of his sister-in-law. Keller was like another sister to him because they had been around each other almost their entire lives. He liked Tigga for her, but it wasn’t his decision to make. Tigga was cool, and Jaden hung out with him and his brother-in-law, Dominic, a few times. The nigga was running a multi-million-dollar construction company and he wasn’t even thirty years old yet.
“It’s not even like that, so get your mind out of the gutter. Me and my man are good. I haven’t talked to Tigga in a few weeks,” Keller replied.
Aside from seeing Tigga when he came to the shop to get his hair cut, Keller hadn’t really had any communication with him. She’d been back home with Leo for a little over a month and they were doing fine. True to his word, Leo had never raised his hand to her since she’d been back home. Keller was genuinely happy for the first time in a while.
“Why haven’t you been talking to Tigga?” Candace questioned.
“Because,” Keller drawled. “Me and Leo are doing good and I don’t want anything to jeopardize that.”
“Bitch, please, that’s like turning down steak and potatoes for ham and cheese. By right, Leo needs to be single. His ass is too ugly
to be in a relationship,” Co-Co chimed in.
“What does his looks have to do with anything? I know that he doesn’t look the best, but I don’t see his outer appearance when I look at him,” Keller defended.
“That bitch is blind,” Co-Co said, making Candace and his client laugh.
“I’m a man, so another nigga’s looks don’t mean shit to me. It’s all about how he treats you. You can’t pay me to believe that Leo treats you better than Tigga,” Jaden spoke up.
“Says the man who puts his entire house on lockdown,” Keller replied sarcastically.
“I just got a different way of doing shit, but Kia and Jaylynn are straight,” Jaden answered.
“Kia is very straight after that New York shopping spree,” Candace replied.
Although Kia was wrong, Jaden wanted to bury the hatchet and do something nice for her and their daughter. Since Kia had been asking to go back to New York, he flew her and Jaylynn there for an entire week. He knew that Kia was going to hit his pockets to get back at him and he was right. He spent close to twenty thousand dollars on her and Jaylynn, but it was cool. They did so much shopping that he had to rent a van for them to drive back home. It was a long ass drive, but there was way that they could have flown with all the items that they had purchased. As soon as Jaden got back home, he called Tori and Serena to start putting in extra work for him.
“I saw all that stuff that her and Jaylynn came back with,” Keller said, pulling Jaden out of his daydream.
“You need to get on the winning team. Tigga got them coins,” Co-Co said.
“How do you know that Co-Co? You only know him from coming in here,” Keller replied.
“That nigga look like money. I’ve been around long enough to
know,” Co-Co said confidently.
“You better listen to Co-Co. He’s one of the original hoes from way back in the day,” Jaden blurted out with a straight face.
“No, your crybaby ass didn’t, bitch. Don’t make me tell everybody how you came crying to me that last time Kia broke up with you,” Co-Co shrieked.
“Oh, so you wanna hit below the belt?” Jaden yelled back. “How about you tell them how your feminine ass came crying to me when you thought Dwight gave you a disease. Nigga had a hair bump on his lil dick and swore that he was dying. He wanted me to kill Dwight and the man ain’t even do shit.”
They had the entire shop weak with laughter after that. That was the reason why Keller loved her job the most. There was never a dull moment with the characters that she worked with.
“Now, that’s messed up Jaden. I told you that in confidence,” Co-Co whined.
“I came to you in confidence too. I’m not ashamed to say that I shed a few tears over Kia. Real niggas cry too,” Jaden replied, right as Tessa walked through the door.
She stopped and spoke to everybody before walking to Keller’s work area.
“Girl, you just missed the funniest shit that you’ve probably ever heard before in your life,” Keller told Tessa once they sat down at her work station.
“Must have been Co-Co and Jaden,” Tessa assumed.
“You already know,” Keller said as she told her what happened.
It didn’t take long before Tessa was doubled over in laughter as well. She loved coming to the shop and she made sure that her schedule was free and clear so that she could stay for a while when she did. She didn’t even have to get anything done at the moment, but she wanted to chill with her friend and get a few laughs in for a
little while.
“I wish you could come with us weekend after next. You still have plenty of time to clear your schedule,” Tessa said to Keller once again.
They were going to Tigga’s vacation property in Florida and she had been begging Keller to come along with them. Aside from Tigga and their mother, Anaya and the kids were tagging along too. Tigga was pissed that Anaya was going, but the kids seemed to be excited about it.
“Clearing my schedule is never a problem. If me and Leo were still broken up, I would have been on the first thing smoking out of here. He would go crazy if I went out of town without him,” Keller said right as the door chimed, alerting them of a visitor.
When she saw Tori walk in, she knew that it was about to be some unnecessary drama. She could tell that Jaden was heated, as he turned his angry glare towards his unwanted visitor.
“What the fuck you want Tori?” Jaden snapped irritably.
“I want the rest of my money that you never paid me. I’m not Serena. You can’t pay me when you feel like it and expect me to be okay with it,” Tori replied with her hand on her hips.
“Girl, you better get the fuck on,” Jaden chuckled, even though he didn’t find anything funny. He and Kia had just gotten their relationship back on track and he didn’t need Tori and her drama interfering with that.
“I’m not going nowhere until you pay me my money,” Tori said defiantly.
“Tori, I’m telling you to chill. Don’t come to my job with that bullshit,” Jaden warned again. Keller knew the look in his eyes all too well. That was the calm before the storm and Tori needed to keep it pushing.
“Fuck that! You got money to take your bitch on shopping sprees in New York. You need to pay me my money or find somebody else to sell your shit.”
Tori knew that she was playing with fire when she showed up to Jaden’s job, but she didn’t care. It pissed her off when she looked on Kia’s social media accounts and saw that Jaden had taken her and their daughter to New York. She posted hundreds of pictures of them shopping and having fun like one big happy family. That bitch, Kia, was cocky with it too. Her pages weren’t even private because she wanted everybody to see. Tori could care less about the two hundred dollars that he owed her. Jaden blew more than that on games for Jaylynn, so she knew that he had it. The money was just her reason for showing up there in the first place. It was a decision that she was sure to regret. She had barely gotten the last word out of her mouth before Jaden’s hands were wrapped around her throat.
“Jaden, no!” Co-Co yelled, as he and Candace tried to pull their cousin off his crazy stalker. Jaden was too strong for them because he didn’t let up. Keller and Tessa watched in horror, as Jaden lifted Tori off her feet and tossed her out of the shop and onto the concrete.
“Stupid bitch!” Jaden yelled as he reached into his pocket and pulled out two, crisp hundred-dollar bills and threw them at her. “You better make that shit last cause I’m done with you. I’ll find somebody else to work with.”
Tori knew how to handle Jaden’s business, but he didn’t need the extra drama that came along with her. His uncle Shaq was working on trying to get him somebody else, but he hadn’t had any luck so far. Sheena was still doing her thing for him, but she couldn’t do it all alone. Jaden hated to get his hands dirty again, but he would do whatever he needed to do in order to get rid of Tori.
“Jaden, wait, I’m sorry!” Tori screamed as she tried to get up and go after him.
“Baby girl, you need to leave. That nigga almost broke every bone in your body and you’re trying to chase after him,” Co-Co said as he blocked her path.
“Jaden!” Tori screamed like the crazy bitch that she was.
Jaden ignored her, but Co-Co and Candace actually felt sorry
for her. She obviously had some underlying issues that had nothing to do with their cousin. Tori wasn’t wrapped too tight and that wasn’t hard to see.
“Just let him calm down. He’ll probably call you later,” Candace said, even though she knew that was a lie. She knew that a person had to handle girls like Tori a certain way or they would end up on an episode of Snapped.
“Okay, tell him that I said I’m sorry,” Tori said as she wiped a few tears from her eyes.
“I will,” Candace said as she watched her get into her rental car and pull off.
“Jaden better watch that bitch. She might pick Jaylynn up from school and take her to the amusement park like ole girl did on Fatal Attraction,” Co-Co said, making his sister laugh.
“Yeah, something ain’t right with that one,” Candace agreed as they walked back into the salon.
“You alright cousin?” Co-Co asked Jaden when they saw him sitting at Keller’s work station. He was probably begging her not to tell Kia what had gone down just a few minutes ago.
“Yeah,” Jaden replied with a scowl still plastered on his face.
Co-Co knew his cousin well enough to leave him alone when he was in one of those moods. Tori got off easy and she needed to know that. She could keep fucking with Jaden if she wanted to. Her family was going to be putting her crazy ass on the back of a few milk cartons, and that much Co-Co was certain of.
