- FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17, 1924 -

“It’s time,” Levi said from behind Frankie. “Cast the spell.”

“You have become a bigger pain than I would’ve ever thought,” Zanabar told Frankie, ignoring Levi. “You were supposed to be a pawn to secure additional powers for me. I had every intention of returning you to your family, as long as you didn’t ask too many questions.”

“You were going to kill an innocent girl,” Frankie said, thinking of Ura. “Of course you needed to be stopped.”

“If I hadn’t tried to claim her, she would’ve been hunted for the rest of her eternal life,” Zanabar said. “That’s exactly what her fate had been in the 1984 that I plucked you from.”

“And I put a stop to that kind of life for her.”

“By doing what? Locking her away for eternity? How is that any better?”

“At least she’s not being used against her will,” Frankie defended. “At least she has peace.”

“She still lost her life. Her freedom. How does that make you any different from me?”

“Thirty seconds left.” Levi’s eyes darted between his watch and his friend. “Frankie, cast the spell before it’s too late!”

“Don’t listen to Zanabar,” Evelyn said. “He’s only trying to confuse you. Manipulate you.”

“And you’ve somehow been a bigger pain as well.” Zanabar turned his attention to the oracle, who cowered at his tone. “You were nothing but a barroom novelty before I brought the witch to this time.”

“That was your own doing,” Frankie said. He gestured to Tommy’s body, which lay on the ground. “And now look what you’ve done. You need to be stopped, Zanabar!”

“And then what will you do, one I’m gone? I’m the last hope you have of seeing your family.”

“Ten seconds!”

“That may be true,” Frankie said, “but if I have to give up seeing my family again to make sure your torment ends, then so be it.”

He didn’t need to pull out the spell. He had been memorizing it ever since he first crafted it.

Spanning the energies across all time,

I call on the power of the divine.

Rid this evil from the future and past,

Take him after this spell has been cast.
