Candied Pecans

 Makes about 3 cups

3/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon apple pie or pumpkin pie spice

1 teaspoon salt

1 egg white

1 tablespoon water

3 cups pecan halves

1. Preheat the oven to 250°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil.

2. In a small bowl, stir together the sugar, pie spice, and salt.

3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg white and water until frothy. Add the pecans and stir until coated. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the pecans and toss to coat.

4. Spread the nuts on the lined baking sheet and bake, stirring every 15 minutes, until the coating dries and the pecans are crisp, about 1 hour. Cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally to break apart any clumps. Store at room temperature in an airtight container.

images A Note from Miss Kay

We are surrounded by pecan orchards in northeast Louisiana, so there’s never a shortage. This is quick and easy to make and the nut lovers at the party will thank you.
