This variant includes a large frequency (35 to 55 percent) of denticulated implements; these are flake tools of varying form featuring serrated edges. Other characteristics are primarily negative. There are no typical handaxes, no backed knives, few points, and few scrapers. Clearly the functions of many of the typical implements were performed by the denticulate tools. No skeletal remains have been found with the denticulate variant. The Denticulate Mousterian lasts from the beginning of WUrm I through Wurm II.
