Our family loves using apples to brighten savory dishes. We experimented with pork chops and apple recipes to find the perfect pairing, and this recipe is what it came to be.

4 boneless pork loin chops (4 ounces each and 3 /4 inch thick)
1 teaspoon dried oregano, divided
1 /2 teaspoon salt
1 /4 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
1 1 /2 teaspoons canola oil
2 small apples, cut into 1 /2 -inch slices
1 cup sliced sweet onion (1 /4 inch thick)
1 /3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 /4 cup cider vinegar
1. Sprinkle pork chops with 1 /2 teaspoon oregano, salt and pepper. Place a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Brown the pork chops, about 3 minutes per side; remove from pan.
2. In same pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add apples, onion and the remaining oregano; cook and stir for 6-8 minutes or until apples are tender.
3. Reduce heat to medium; stir in applesauce and vinegar. Return the chops to the pan; cook, covered, for 4-6 minutes or until pork is tender. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
