ive had lots of pets

daddy is awful important in the museum and they often send him to far away places to bring back things and plants so everybody can study them mommy doesnt like it when daddy goes away and she says o be careful o be careful but daddy says there there now there there now until mommy stops crying and he goes anyways i dont mind when daddy goes because he is awful important in the museum and so they take good care of him because they dont want anything to happen to him besides he always brings me back something to play with one time he brought me a funny plant that had a hard hard stem and when i put it in the sun after a while it grew little red balls that daddy said i could eat and i did but i ate too many and got sick one time he brought me a bird that sang very pretty and mommy would play nice music and the pretty bird would sing but once i killed it by mistake daddy did not mind too much and said that he would bring me another pet to play with next time the museum sends him away soon mommy got sad again so i knew that daddy was going away again goodbye goodbye he said to everyone dont worry and you take good care of your mother he said to me mommy stood very close to me and said o be careful and please please write to me and daddy said o yes of course now dont you worry again after daddy left mommy showed me a picture of daddy and his friends in the newspaper and a big story about how important he was and a new place that he was supposed to be going to daddy was gone a long time but we knew he was all right because of the letters he sent mommy told me that he had found the new place and was coming back soon with all sorts of things for the museum and also a pet for me goody goody soon daddy came back and we went to meet him everyone was there guards and policemen and very important people and they all cheered when daddy came out and shook his hands we are all proud of you a great service to your country and history making or something they said that night mommy and daddy went out together but before they left daddy told me he had brought a pet back for me but i could not have it until the museum was finished o thank you i said and i could hardly wait one night daddy came home from work and he had a box with him come here and see what ive got here he said he put the box on the floor and opened it up mommy could not look but i don’t blame her because they were awful ugly smelly pets daddy had brought home o take them away she said daddy i said why did you bring 2 one is a boy pet and one is a girl pet daddy said o i said gosh i never saw anything so funny looking and hairy such a funny shape with 5 points but mommy was crying and daddy said all right all right we wont keep them and he said to me look these pets arent too smart so they wont make very good pets but i said i want them i want them i want them and i started crying too and there was lots of noise with me crying and mommy crying and daddy shouting but I got my way daddy finally got quiet and said i should feed them because they hadnt eaten for a long time had to clean on the cage so often and it was part of an experiment in the box they were like tied up together but when i put in the piece of food they both rushed for it and made funny noises and started fighting for the food ha ha ha ha i said and so did daddy but mommy wouldnt look after that i took care of them all by myself three times they tried to get away but i found them and put them in a bigger box once when i was putting some food in the box they tried to stick something into my tentacle so i stung them dead never mind said daddy we have lots more in the museum and kissed the sore spot with his other mouth—HERE IS A WHOLE PLANET FULL OF THEM
