Staying with the idea of updates, just like the WordPress core gets updated, themes and plugins get updated as well. You should install them as soon as they're available for the very same reason you want to be installing WordPress updates.
To see what updates are available for your site in general, go to Dashboard | Updates. You'll see a summary there, along with links enabling you to get the updates installed, as can be seen in the following screenshot:
