Wine Cookies

Traditionally, these cookies are made into 3" circles, although you can cut them into any shape you would like.

INGREDIENTS | MAKES 4 DOZEN

1 cup margarine

1 cup white granulated sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon salt

4 cups flour

14 cup sweet sherry

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix together the margarine and sugar until creamy. Add the egg and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Blend in the salt and 2 cups of the flour. Stir in the sherry. Add the remaining 2 cups of flour and mix well.
  4. Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour or until firm.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until it’s about 18" thick. Cut with cookie cutters.
  6. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
