Pecan Candy

If you’re used to pralines from America’s southeast, these will taste a little odd at first. However, this authentic candy complements a Mexican meal perfectly.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 8

2 cups white granulated sugar

12 cup margarine

1 cup canned condensed milk

2 tablespoons white corn syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

14 teaspoon cayenne pepper

12 teaspoon chili powder

3 cups pecans

  1. Combine the sugar, margarine, condensed milk, and corn syrup in a medium-sized pot. Heat on medium-high until the mixture forms a firm, soft ball when a small amount is dropped into cold water.
  2. Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla, cayenne pepper, chili powder, and pecans.
  3. Using a tablespoon, drop into patties on parchment paper. Put in a cool place until the clusters reach room temperature.
