Wine Custard

This makes a perfect ending to a romantic meal.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 6

6 cups whole milk

2 cups sugar

14 cup heavy red wine

  1. Place the milk in the top of a double boiler and heat over boiling water. Stir in the sugar. Cook for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  3. Pour the milk mixture into a saucepan on medium-low heat. Stir in the wine until the wine is completely absorbed.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a serving dish. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 3–4 hours before serving.
