Barb ran upstairs to watch Marinda leave.

As she took the stairs, two at a time, Barb realised that in her rush to defend her position she hadn’t even asked for that woman’s name.

She reached the window on the landing just as Marinda walked the last part of the long driveway. Whoever she was, she was from the Facility and either knew where Mary was, or would be searching for her too.

The timing was perfect. Fix had delivered the gun last night, so there was nothing to stop Barb following her.

She needed to find Helen and Will to give them the storeroom key.
