WEEK 10: Blossom Shading

Blossom is not your regular tangle and can seem complicated to shade. In fact, it is not even necessary to shade it if you don’t want to. However, in the spirit of “shading enabling,” let’s look at some ways you can shade Blossom.

You can shade the white areas near Blossom. I’ve shown this in the example; this accentuates the shape of Blossom (if that’s your intent). I used Blossom to create circles of different sizes and then shaded the white space to draw the eye to those circles.

In the second example, I’ve applied the shading principle directly to the Blossom stems as well as around the edge of the tile. I chose to simply shade lightly on the right-hand side of the stem, regardless of the direction of the stem. I liked how that turned out, too.

Use these tiles to continue playing with Blossom and try different shading techniques.
