WEEK 21: Honeycomb Shapes

Tangles:

Honeycomb, Ibex

Much like we did last week, I want you to continue manipulating Honeycomb into shapes. Last week we tackled letterforms; this week it’s general shapes. In the first example, I deliberately chose a musical note so I could use the narrow stem of the note, showing that it’s possible to work a tangle like Honeycomb into an abstract shape, not requiring the whole Honeycomb form.

Tangles:

Honeycomb, Tipple

Alternatively, in the second example of the bow, I’ve used Honeycomb across all sections of the shape, demonstrating the effect of using the same tangle at different sizings.

Keep exploring Honeycomb as a shape-builder using these as a guide. Use different sizes and directions to create points of difference, and remember that your shading will really come into play with this tangle, too.
