WEEK 29: Stixnstonez Zendalas

Tangles:

Stixnstonez, Printemps, Quipple, Tidings, Tagh

Hopefully by now you’re starting to think about Stixnstonez beyond the obvious uses it might have in tangling. Here we are, the last week in this section, and it’s time to think about how to use this great tangle with Zendala.

In the first example, because of the way the string is constructed, I alternated Stixnstonez around the inner and outer circles. I didn’t know it would happen, but the result is that the other tangles “pop” and the Zendala looks somewhat three-dimensional. You can almost imagine a windmill effect.

Tangles:

Stixnstonez, Rain, Festune, Echoism

I deliberately used Stixnstonez as the background in this example, but the three-dimensional appearance came through here, too. Some of that also comes from the outer shading.

Use these Zendala tiles to practice using Stixnstonez in the round and think about how you, too, can achieve the three-dimensional look.
