Do you dream of angels? Vivid colors, angels, wings, and luminous, otherworldly forms have been sent to us in dreams for centuries, from the biblical Joseph, whose dream angel told him to marry Mary, to the visions and dreams of religious mystics such as Hildegard von Bingen and Joan of Arc.
Angels have influenced some of our most respected writers and artists, including Dante Alighieri, John Milton, and William Blake. Blake, the English poet, painter, and visionary, believed that he saw angels in his dreams, and all around him. For him, and for many angel healers and “seers,” angels appear in visions in everyday life, taking the leap from the stuff of dreams into reality. At the age of just nine, near his home in Peckham Rye, south London, Blake saw “a tree filled with angels, bright angelic wings bespangling every bough like stars.”
Angels can come to us in dreams and visions as messengers, to offer guidance, insight, and ways to solve a problem. Most of the time you may not remember your angels’ presence in your dreams, only that you felt something deeply; maybe the colors in your dream were very vivid and beautiful. When you awake, you feel calmer and happier than usual. The angels may have given you a solution or idea!
PROPHETIC ANGEL DREAMS
Angels may visit in dreams to herald a big event. This “future event” dream will feel incredibly intense (but never frightening), and may wake you up. If this happens, stay with the feeling of the dream and let its sensations drift into your waking consciousness. Your angel has delivered a suitcase of sensations and messages to you in your sleep, and now it’s time for some gentle unpacking.
* Take your angel journal (see Tip 19) and write down your first impressions or record them on your phone. Make a note of the date. Recall any aromas, signs, and symbols in your dream, and feel their impact on you. Try to stay with the feeling of the dream as you let these sensations flow.
* You can also take some angel message cards or any angel cards you like to work with and keep them by your bed. After a dream, choose a card from the deck as soon as you begin to wake up. This card will hold a message from your dream angels.
* Flying (not fearful but blissful): Your angels are giving you an education, showing you the world and perhaps the cosmos. You are developing spiritually. It’s time to do more and follow your path.
* People from the past: Your angels are showing you relationships that need healing or attention. Your angels are showing you these people without judgment. They may be asking you, too, to drop your judgment about a person or yourself in the events you saw in your dream.
* Insecurity dreams. These are common, and include:
• Losing something, such as an important document or your purse
• Being late for an appointment, or missing a train or airplane
• Walking around in public half-dressed
• Teeth falling out
• Falling or sinking
• Failing a test
• Being chased
• Being trapped
• Car trouble, or faults with technology, such as your phone breaking
In these dreams, your mind is processing fears and worries. This fear can block your connection with your angels, so you may be being asked to work on these issues. If you experience these dreams a lot, ask your guardian angel to hold your hand before you go to sleep and help you relax.
Archangel Gabriel is the angel of dreams and messages. Along with angel Auriel, he is one of the angels of the moon.
MOON MAGIC
If you received an angel sensation in your dream without any specific events or messages, you may have been visited by the angel of the Moon Day. An angel governs each day of the moon’s 28-day cycle. Work out the day of your dream according to the moon’s cycle—you can look this up on astronomy or astrology websites—then see the table opposite for the message.
The second part of the moon cycle, days 14–28, is the waning phase, when the full moon decreases to no moon. Energy wanes, so there are fewer positive attributes here, although there are still some highlights: day 22 links with healing and freedom, day 27 with prosperity, and day 28 with love and friendship.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY DREAM WAS AN ANGEL DREAM?
Hans Christian Andersen’s story “Holger Danske” (1845) tells of the eponymous sleeping hero, who dreams of everything that is happening in Denmark. Every Christmas Eve an angel comes from God to tell him that all his dreams are true.

If you doubt your dreams, ask your angels for a message of reassurance. Did you find a tiny feather by your front door the morning after your dream? This is just one of the signs (see Tip 1) that your angels are with you, guiding you in your dreams at night and walking by your side each day.
