Eloy

Eloy was glad he wasn’t in his own ride. He’d never actually participated in any of his operations, but there was a first time for everything.

He downplayed the danger and chaos created by his boosting raids. There was always one idiot escape driver facing the wrong way, no matter how many times they’d been briefed.

The whole idea was that the get-away drivers pulled up to the assigned exit of the store, positioned in the same direction. The operators would hop from the cars and enter the location.

When the crew started fleeing, their rides were parked and waiting with the doors open. Three “shoppers” per car and they jumped into the first vehicle available.

Once all three thieves were inside, the wheelman turned down any row to flee.

They’d had a few close calls, but he kept refining the plan to where it was pretty much foolproof—as long as no one lost their head.

Although he tried not to show it, he was concerned. Not about the job, but Chloe made him nervous.

She was visibly trembling, and her gaze darted around with the speed of a hummingbird.

She was a fine piece of ass, but more dangerous because she came from an upper-class home with a family that could afford to hire a private detective to track him down. As much as he hated to do it, he might have to cut her loose.

“Oh, God. The mall is right there,” Chloe said, panting.

“Hey, girl. Calm yourself. We’re just going to be parked in the parking lot. In fact, we’ll be at the far end of a row so we’re able to watch what’s going on as the crew comes out.”

“What if something goes wrong?”

“I’ve been doing this a long time. Nothing will.” He eyed her face. Beads of sweat dotted her forehead and upper lip.

“Look. Maybe I should drive. If it turns to shit, I’ll react faster than trying to tell you what to do.”

She shook her head. “No. I can do it, but you have to promise me that you’ll delete the pictures off your phone and take me off your website.”

Thank God she’s young and believes anything I tell her. “Well, I don’t want to give up either of them. But if you do this for me, I’ll reward you by letting you delete your photos off my cell, and you can watch me take them off my website.”

She briefly took her eyes from the road. “Really?”

He smiled at her. “Really.”

She let out a vast sigh. “Okay. Let’s get this done.”
