Blaze received a message on the computer in his black and white to come to the station.
The whole ride over, he mentally cussed out his lieutenant.
He was sure Tony had gotten to work and his hangover had hit him full throttle, and now his boss wanted to go home again.
Marching into the watch commander’s office, he was ready to chew his buddy out.
Instead, he found his friend staring intently at the ACC and making notes on a legal pad.
“What’s up, L.T.?”
“I just got a call from Gunner Ferrari, from RHD. Chloe Conrad is missing. She’s the R/O of the vehicle that killed Dolby Sinclair. We’ve confirmed she went to the Oaks Motel on Topanga last night to meet with someone. It’s assumed it was the guy she was with the day her car was stolen, Eloy Beglaryan. We think she may be in danger.”
“Why?”
“Chloe’s girlfriend, Mallory, drove her to the motel this morning shortly after midnight. On the way there, Chloe said she was trapped and in big trouble.”
“That doesn’t sound good.”
“No. And if you pair that with her hinting to Price that she was being blackmailed, it sounds even worse.”
“Does he have a rap sheet?”
“No. The only thing we could find was a speeding ticket in Hollywood.”
“What’s the game plan?”
“Ferrari is still with Bender and Price. They’ve gone to the Oaks and determined the guy, Eloy Beglaryan, stayed there. They looked at video, and there was a female in the room with him, but they couldn’t confirm it was the missing girl.”
“That place is a dump,” Blaze said. “A known drug and working girl location.”
The lieutenant nodded.
“What does Ferrari want us to do?”
“He’s got some detectives from RHD en route to canvas the surrounding businesses for any sign of Beglaryan and the female. I’d like you to try and stay available in case they need uniformed support.”
Blaze nodded. “I can do that.”
