About the Author

Maine native Kate Flora has long been fascinated by the darker aspects of human nature. Starting her career in the Maine Attorney General’s office, she encountered the raw realities of deadbeat dads, child abusers, and workplace discrimination, sparking her curiosity about what drives people to cross the line. An acclaimed author of 24 books, including several award-winning crime novels, Flora’s works have been finalists for the Edgar, Agatha, Anthony, and Derringer awards. Teach Her a Lesson was published by Encircle in May 2023. Her latest suspense thriller, Burn the Diaries and Run, will be released in October 2024.

Flora is a founding member of the New England Crime Bake and the Maine Crime Wave. She divides her time between Massachusetts and Maine, where she indulges in gardening, cooking, and imagining the next dark deed her characters will commit. When she’s not writing, she contributes to the blog Maine Crime Writers and occasionally braves the shark-filled waters off the coast of Maine.
